Adjusting the post types for link suggestions.
By default, Link Whisper only shows you linking suggestions between Posts and Pages. But you can set it to make suggestions between any other custom post type that’s active on your site. This is especially useful on sites that use custom post types to display certain kinds of data.
For example, all WooCommerce products are stored in a custom post type, and by enabling the “product” post type, you can make links between your products and your pages. Or between different products for cross-selling purposes.
To change the post types that Link Whisper will make suggestions for, go to the Link Whisper Settings. In the middle of the “General Settings” tab, you’ll see a section called “Post Types to Create Links For” containing toggle switches next to your site’s post types. Toggle on the post types that you want to create suggestions for.
If you don’t see a post type that you want to create suggestions for, try activating the “Show Non-Public Post Types” option. This will set Link Whisper to show all post types on your site, and not just the ones that are viewable to logged-out users.
Once you’ve toggled on the post types that you want to create suggestions for, click the “Save Settings” button.
Once the settings are saved, please go to the Links Report and run a new link scan. This is both to update the report stats and to help Link Whisper in making link suggestions.
When the link scan is complete, Link Whisper will make suggestions from your custom post types.
Making suggestions between categories and tags.
Link Whisper is also capable of creating link suggestions for the archive pages of your categories and tags. By default, this isn’t active, but you can activate it in the Settings.
Right below the “Post Types to Create Links For” section is the “Term Types to Create Links For” section. This section functions just like the post type section. By toggling on categories and tags, you can tell Link Whisper to create link suggestions for their archive pages. This can be very helpful for creating links to the archive page from the posts on your site.
Just like when you change the post types, you should run a link scan to update the report stats and the stored link data.
