Sometimes when updating Link Whisper, an error will occur that will cause the database update routine not to run. When this happens, you are likely to see errors in the WP Admin saying that columns don’t exist. You may also experience endless loading and notices telling you that “a critical error has occurred” when you click on buttons.

To fix this, you’ll need to manually activate the database update routine so Link Whisper can complete the missed steps.

Activating the update routine is very simple, first, open the Link Whisper Settings and select the “Advanced Settings” tab.

At the bottom of the page, you’ll see an option called “Debug Settings”. Click on the option to open the debug settings. From the list of settings, select the “Re-run the database table update routine?” option, and click the “Save Settings” button.

Link Whisper will run the update routine and will deactivate the option when it’s done. The whole process is very quick and should complete in a few seconds.
